My name is Neda Kakavand. I am very excited for another year of teaching KINDERGARTEN here at Mahdavi International School!

I have been teaching at this school since 2013. I graduated from Allameh Tabataba’i University and continued to get my master's in teaching at that university. I have taught kindergarteners, third, fourth, and fifth graders. I also was an art teacher for MYP students.

I started teaching 19 years ago, but my understanding of teaching changed when I received lots of training on inquiry in Mahdavi school. I found a love for teaching inquiry skills. Science wasn’t the same as when I went to school where we simply read about how the world worked. Today, students get to experience and explore how science works through hands-on activities and interacting with materials and others. I get excited about engaging students through questioning and guiding their exploration and encouraging them to appreciate creativity.

I have a studio out of Tehran to enjoy woodcarving and horseback riding. When I have some peace and quiet at home, I draw and paint.

My husband, Reza, and I have been married for 21 years and we have two children. Reza is the head of the designing department at the Ministry of Oil and Gas and enjoys web developing ( this website is developed by him) and connecting with friends and family. Our daughter, Vida is 19 and is a student in mechanical engineering. She spends her time enjoying French literature and learning mechanical design software. Our son, Parsa is 11 and is in 6th grade. Parsa loves music, playing football, and hanging out with friends. As a family we love to be active, laugh, play games, do puzzles, and travel.
